Leaders and stakeholders in Orlu Local Government Area, under the auspices of Orlu North, South Consultative Movement,ONSCOM has disclosed their intention to set the machinery for the recall of the member, representing Orlu State Constituency, Hon. Pascal Okolie over his suspicious silence about the alarming spate of insecurity ravaging Orlu and environ.
The group stated this in a press release signed by Chief Gideon Nnadi and Dr Golden Nwachukwu, as Chairman and Secretary respectively and made available to the press in Orlu, on August 29,2022.
The association averred that Hon Paschal Okolie’s suspicious silence despite the incessant killings, arson, and other vices has become suspicious and worrisome.
“Despite the killings in Orlu, especially in Okolie’s community, Okporo which has recorded the highest number of deaths in the state, as a result of the prevailing insecurity, Paschal Okolie has remained aloof and insensitive as if nothing is happening. All he does is to promptly and quietly issue a condolence message whenever there is a casualty without making effort or taking any concrete step towards addressing the menace”.
“We will officially write the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) to open a register to enable us commence the process of his recall before more Orlu people are sent to their early graves as a result of inept, purposeless and ineffective representation”.
They further posited that “it is the height of wickedness and insensitivity for a person who parades himself as the representative of the people to keep quiet in the face of such monumental fatal onslaught against his constituent”.
They expressed disappointment that Okolie has refused to borrow a leaf from the Oguta, Ohaji/Egbema, Isu and Njaba lawmakers who took proactive measures including drawing the attention of relevant stakeholders to the plight of their people. Hence there is presently relative peace in their respective constituencies”.
The release further called on security agencies to adhere strictly to the rules of engagement to ensure that no innocent person suffers for the offence of another person or group of persons, while urging those who take delight in formenting trouble in the area to desist forth with.
