Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun has named a new Auditor-General nominee for the state.

Balogun Akorede was nominated by Abiodun to replace S. B. Olubanjo, who retired in June as the Auditor-General of the State.

DAILY POST reports that the governor had written a letter to the State House of Assembly, seeking the confirmation of Akorede’s appointment for the post.

During plenary on Tuesday, the Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, acknowledged Abiodun’s correspondence conveying the nomination of Akorede to the Assembly for approval.

Consequently, the nominee was invited to appear before the lawmakers for screening on Thursday, September 22.

Abiodun’s letter partly reads, “I write to inform Mr. Speaker and all members of the Honourable House that the erstwhile Auditor-General for the State, Mr. S.B Olubanjo statutorily retired from active service on 17th June 2022. Sequel to this, it becomes imperative to appoint another Auditor General in furtherance of the Building our Future Together Agenda of this Administration.”

Oluomo asked the nominee to submit 30 copies of his curriculum vitae and other credentials to the Office of the Clerk and Head of Legislative Service by noon on Wednesday, September 21.
