The Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyema has underscored the “strong” relationship between President Muhammadu Buhari and the incoming King of England Prince Charles the 3rd.
The minister, who was speaking on Arise TV said Prince Charles often visits president Buhari whenever he is in London.
Onyema expressed optimism that the incoming King will maintain the good relationship between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
According to him ” president Muhammadu Buhari has a very close relationship with Prince Charles. Whenever he’s in London, the Prince always makes it a sense of duty to meet with him. They have a very very close relationship.
“So obviously that would go well for relationship between the two countries going forward.
“I know he (Prince Charles) is also quite affectionate. He likes Africa too, he engages with a lot of African leaders.
“So the relationship between Nigeria and the United Kingdom will certainly continue and as I said there’s a very strong personal relationship between our president and King Charles the 3rd”.
Queen Elizabeth the second died around 6pm on Friday.
She was the longest serving monarch in the world after reigning for 70 years.
