The campaign council of the governorship candidate of the All All Progressive Congress in Taraba State, Sen. Emmanuel Bwacha, on Thursday, alleged that the state has collapsed under Governor Darius Ishaku.
The council’s Director of Media and Publicity, Aaron Arthimas, made the allegation while responding to a press conference by the State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Hon. Solomon Elisha, who decried the poor implementation of national constituency projects in the state.
Arthimas alleged that the state has become bankrupt due to multiple loans in all the government’s accounts and Local Government Joint Accounts.
“It is sad that Taraba’s development has stagnated as a result of massive looting, greed, sheer wickedness and lack of interest in the social and economic well-being of the people.
“The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning knows that for the past six years budgeting has been reduced to mere paperwork without implementation.
“Today, ministries and agencies of government no longer receive monthly impress. The government has introduced a piecemeal and rotational salary payment system in which few ministries are selected for payment which sometimes does not cover all ministries and departments because of difficulties in negotiating the overdrafts.
“With over N200 billion debt incurred by the administration, pension and gratuities are not being paid and the only physical project of the administration is the 20 kilometres township road which has gulped over N40 billion,” he alleged.
While urging the people of the state not to fall into cheap blackmail and outright lies aimed at diminishing the growing status of the APC governorship candidate, Arthimas called on the state government to stop playing God and face its responsibilities.
