The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has explained the delay in payment of trainers’ allowances.
The Director-General of the Directorate, Alhaji Abubakar Fikpo, who on Friday broke the silence in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, said the delay in the payment was due to irregularities in the information on the trainers’ accounts.
He stated this at the Orientation Ceremony for Youth Transformation, Training Scheme for Vocational and Technical Skills.
Fikpo, who spoke through one of his directors, Mallam Ibrahim Musa, said prudence and accountability were sacrosanct in the management of public funds, hence the delay in the payment of the allowances.
To however address this, the need for the trainers to furnish the directorate with correct information of their company’s account details, he believed, has become necessary.
”The recent delay in the payment of our trainers is due to discrepancies in their accounts information,” he said.
Expressing sadness that some of the trainers submitted different account details outside their incorporated company’s account details, this sole act, he said, “has become a challenge because the NDE has engaged only registered trainers.”
While beckoning at them to exercise more patients as efforts, according to him, “are on the way to resolve the discrepancies,” he assured them of the directorate’s commitments to immediately commence the payment of their allowances as soon as the much-desired details are made available to them.
Admitting that the trainers “are our major partners in which without you, our programme cannot be achievable,” he admonished them to forward their correct information on their accounts as registered with the corporate affairs commission.
Before clearing the air, some of the trainers, it would be recalled approached the media to express their sadness at the delay in the payment of their allowances by the leadership of the directorate.
