The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commenced screening delegates in Gusau, the state capital, for the governorship primary election slated for Friday, September 23, 2022.
Addressing newsmen in Gusau, the state capital, the state secretary of the party, Alhaji Ahmad Farouq Rijiya, said the issue of appealing the Federal High Court judgment that nullified the party’s governorship primary election would amount to a waste of time.
“The PDP leadership in the state has concluded that fresh governorship primary election will be the best option,” he added.
According to him, going for appeal may delay the party’s political process, assuring there will be a free, fair, credible, and acceptable governorship primary election in the state.
Rijiya urged all the contestants to play by the rules and obey the party’s constitution to avoid mistakes, saying that the party obeyed the court’s ruling because it has regard for the rule of law.
Recall that last week, the Federal High Court sitting in Gusau, the state capital, nullified the party’s governorship primary election that produced Alhaji Dauda Lawal Dare as its governorship candidate in the state.
All efforts by DAILY POST to contact the contestants for comments on their preparations and time frame for the governorship primary election proved abortive as they were in Abuja at the time of filing this report.
