A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Dr. Kazeem Adesina Abidikugu has urged residents of the state to elect leaders that will take Nigeria out of the present socio-economic challenges.
Abidikugu also charged Nigerians to desist from acts that may serve as threats to the corporate existence of the country.
He made these disclosures on Saturday.
The PDP chieftain while felicitating with Nigerians on the occasion of the 62nd independence anniversary, explained that there is no doubt that the country is passing through several challenges.
Abidikugu, however, charged the residents of the state to elect only leaders who will take the country out of the present challenges.
The PDP chieftain also encouraged the residents to desist from any acts that are inimical to the continued corporate existence of the country.
He said despite numerous challenges, Nigeria will still find her feet in the comity of nations.
“A lot has to be done to overcome other challenges we are still facing as a nation such as terrorism, kidnapping, sluggish economic growth and unemployment amongst our youth.
“In 62 years of our independence, Nigeria has faced many challenges but we have overcome some of the challenges. However, these challenges are not insurmountable.
“We have been enjoying democracy since 1999 and as we are in the electioneering process to elect leaders in 2023, we must continue to work together to surmount the challenges threatening to destabilise our nascent democracy and undo the gains achieved in the past 23 years”.
