Following the scarcity of fuel across Kaduna and environs, travellers on Wednesday continued to lament the high increase in transportation in Kaduna and its environs
Many filling stations in Kaduna and its environs have remained closed for days due to the shortfall in fuel supply.
Following this, hundreds of commuters at various bus stops, and garages around the Kaduna metropolis and its environs were left stranded.
A visit to the television garage, Sabo-Tasha garage, Kawo Garage on Tuesday, showed that apart from meeting few vehicles, drivers quoted a very high cost of transport.
A staff of West African Examination Council ( WAEC), office Kawo Kaduna who stays in Kakuri said he now pays between 250- 300 Naira to work as against the N150 he used to pay.
Also, Mallam Nasir Mbama who is currently waiting at Television Garage to board a vehicle to Yola, said the driver insisted on collecting N6000 instead of the usual N4000.
Also, Maryam Yusufu who sells food at the Sabo garage told DAILY POST that she now pays N100 as Keke fare instead of 50 Naira.
She said the high cost of transport fare has forced her to increase the cost of food per plate.
“I spent more money on transportation to the shop where I sell rice, beans, tuwo and other food items to members of the public. Since fuel scarcity began, I also reduced the quantity of food, and increased the price of food I serve my customers.
