Girls have been advised to desist from all forms of immoral activities that can truncate their destinies and educational careers.

Mrs Tosin Abiodun gave the advice at an event to commemorate this year’s International Day of the Girl Child in Ekiti State.

In her admonitions at the event organised by the Trade Union Congress TUC, Ekiti State women’s wing for selected secondary school female students, Abiodun warned female students to be careful in their dealings and learn from one another as they grow up.

Referencing this year’s theme; “Day of the girl child in the digital generation, Abiodun urged the girls to use their phones to contribute to their academic performance rather than using them for pornography and other unwholesome images.

In her address, the Chairperson of Trade Union Congress women’s wing, Ekiti State, Mrs Olukemi Ogundele lamented the increasing rate of gender violence in society and called for proper monitoring of the girl child to help them to attain greatness.

Ogundele who commended the efforts of the wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi towards stemming the tide of violence against women, appreciated the Chairman of the Union, Mr Sola Adigun for being supportive all times.

In a remark, the Chairman of TUC in Ekiti State, Mr Sola Adigun urged female folk especially young ones to always dignify themselves and work hard to attain greatness.

Mr Adigun noted that their future is in their hands and urged them to shape it properly.

Others who spoke at the programme including, Bishop Mary Faboro-Olaoye, Mr Timothy Oluwalade, Mrs Bolajoko Fajulu appealed to the students not to allow men to take advantage of them.
