Labour Party Candidate for Orlu state constituency, Comrade Precious Nwadike held a Town Hall meeting with stakeholders of Orlu community over the weekend at the Community Hall.
The meeting which was presided over by the President General of Orlu Town Union, Chief Eddy Olumba (Mr E) was attended by community leaders, opinion molders and political heavy weights from the area.
Nwadike was accompanied by the Chairman of his campaign team, and the LP ward Chairman of Orlu/Mgbee/ government station , Chief Gozie Nwokike, popularly known as ‘’But one day’’.
At the end of the meeting and extensive deliberations, the community unanimously resolved to throw their weight behind their illustrious son who, according to them, has what it takes to offer quality and effective representation that has eluded the constituency for quite some time.
They also vowed to resist any plot by unscrupulous elements and those who do not wish the community well to constitute stumbling blocks on his way for whatever reason.
‘’We will deploy all legitimate means at our disposal to expose and bring to book those being used by the enemies and detractors of Orlu people who would want to play the spoilers game by scuttling the opportunity we have to produce a vibrant, courageous and result-oriented lawmaker that would positively change the narrative as regards leadership and representation in Orlu state constituency’’.
Some of those present at the meeting expressed disappointment about speculations in different quarters that the incumbent lawmaker for Orlu state constituency, Hon Pascal Okolie and his cohorts are sponsoring a candidate from the same Orlu Mgbee Government station ward with a view to weakening the support base of Nwadike, a renowned human rights activist.
It was also gathered that Pascal Okolie had, as part of his desperate scheme, was alleged to have cajoled another Orlu community son during the primaries of the PDP to contest the primary election. He thereafter went ahead to inform the PDP party hierarchy in Owerri that Isu clan was not ready for the position as they fielded more than one candidate.
‘’This, according to sources, may have swayed the decision of party leaders who, prior to that time, were determined to respect the age long zoning arrangement between Orsu and Isu clans. This perhaps was why the PDP that places premium on established zoning arrangements was deceived into giving Pascal Okolie its ticket against all odds’’.
The incumbent Orlu lawmaker who recently initiated a suit against Nwadike aimed at disqualifying him from contesting election in 2023 for obvious reasons refused to tell the party that all those who contested with him in 2019 were indigenes of Orsu clan. This was so because Isu people decided to respect the zoning arrangement. Some of the candidates then were Bair Ojo Okolie, Engr Augustine Okeke, Ezeanya, Bair Nwaele etc.
Meanwhile,Comrade Nwadike and his campaign team later proceeded to the palace of the traditional ruler of Isiala Amaifeke autonomous community, HRH Highness Eze Cyril Okechukwu where they were recieved with warm reception.
The first class monarch who expressed excitement over the visit described Nwadike as best for the position and assured him of his support. He recalled how Nwadike had devoted his time, fighting for the masses at the expense of his personal comfort and security. He said,”this is time to appreciate you for what you represent.I am optimistic Orlu LGA won’t miss the opportunity”.
Nwadike while thanking the Monarch commended him for standing out and identifying his throne to the envy of others. He promised to use his position as a lawmaker to return the respect and value for Traditional rulers and ensure their welfare.
He used the opportunity to inform the Traditional ruler that his subject, Chief Mike Mbama, a retired assistant director of , State Security service, SSS and former chief detail of Chief Achike Udenwa as governor has been appointed the director General of Precious Nwadike Campaign organization, PRENCO.He pleaded with the Monarch to support Mbama in any way he can to ensure victory for Peter Obi and other Labour party candidate.
