Former Manchester United star, Owen Hargreaves has said the Red Devils are favourites to win the Europa League trophy this season.
Both Premier League clubs, Arsenal and Manchester United secured Europa League victories on Thursday night.
Hargreaves noted that the Europa League is the only title his former club can easily win this season, adding that success in the competition would represent a ‘successful’ season for the Red Devils under new boss Ten Hag.
Manchester United defeated Omonia Nicosia 1-0 at Old Trafford on Thursday night thanks to Scott McTominay’s late strike.
“This is one of the trophies they should try and win,” he said of the Europa League on BT Sport. “I think they’re one of the favourites, for sure.
‘There are other trophies. The Premier League is obviously unrealistic, we saw that against Man City.
“But I think if they can finish in the top four and win a trophy it would be a great debut season from Erik ten Hag.”
