The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested one Segun Olamide, popularly known as Confidence, and Olatunji Michael for allegedly burgling 16 houses and shops belonging to different residents within Ado-Ekiti and carting away numerous valuables.

In a statement made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday by the spokesperson of the command, DSP Sunday Abutu, the suspects confessed to committing the crime and mentioned three others who are currently at large as their accomplices.

DAILY POST gathered that the two suspects led the police operatives to where they hid some of the stolen items: 15 electronic appliances, 220 pairs of male and female shoes, 275 male and female clothes, assorted wines, provisions and foodstuffs, large quantity of women accessories and lingerie, different house properties, one bag containing three hammers, one wooden saw and a chisel.

The two suspects would be arraigned accordingly, while effort is ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects and recover more items.

The statement reads in part, “The operatives of the Command, on 01/10/2022, arrested one SEGUN OLAMIDE a.k.a CONFIDENCE for allegedly burgling into sixteen houses and shops belonging to sixteen different complainants within Ado-Ekiti and carting away numerous valuables.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime and mentioned one OLATUNJI MICHEAL who resides in Akure, Ondo State, but was later arrested, and three others who are currently at large as his accomplices.”
