Oba Oyewumi joined his ancestors on 12th December 2021. The position of the Soun of Ogbomoso is still vacant as at the time of filing this report.
It was gathered that the kingmakers have picked one of the candidates for the position of Soun of Ogbomoso.
The position is still vacant because the state government is yet to approve the nomination.
The state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde while speaking on a live radio programme in Ibadan on Saturday said he rejected the recommendation for the new Soun.
Makinde noted that this is because there were court cases challenging the nomination from some people claimed they were excluded.
But, the kingmakers have stated that the kingmakers never received any correspondence from the Oyo state government whether rejecting or approving its recommendation for the new Soun of Ogbomosoland.
Head of the kingmakers, High Chief Sobalaje Otolorin, who spoke on behalf of the kingmakers, said that the kingmakers are yet to receive any letter as at today (Sunday.
Otolorin, who is also the Areago of Ogbomosoland, insisted that the kingmakers did not receive any rejection communication whether verbal or written.
He said, “We did not receive any correspondence rejecting our nomination for the new Soun.
“Perhaps those sent to convey the message are still on the way.
“But as at this morning we never got anything of such.”
