Bandits are demanding N10 million ransom before releasing the remains of one Obadiah Ibrahim that was kidnapped in Sabon Gaya, in early October.
According to Kefas Obadiah, a brother to the victim, the bandits had already been given N3 million as ransom.
He lamented that his brother was abducted on his way to Kaduna from Abuja at a village, Sabon Gaya early October, saying that after collecting N3 million, the bandits refused to release his brother.
Kefas explained that the death of his late brother was announced on Thursday.
He explained that earlier, the bandits demanded N200 million.
According to him, “They later came down to N5 million and 3 motorbikes and later collected one bike. After collecting a bike, we didn’t hear from them again. We tried to communicate with them but unfortunately, we were unable.”
He further explained that when the negotiator called the bandits on Thursday, they (bandits) said their brother was dead, saying that initially, they thought the bandits were joking but when they continued, the bandits threatened to track the caller and come for him if he did not stop calling their line.
He said the bandits explained that they vented their anger on their brother by killing him following the killing of their men by the police.
Ibrahim explained that the bandits are demanding for N10 million to immediately release the corpse, saying that they (bandits) would not work free of charge.
