The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, has commended the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA on the success recorded so far in the ongoing war against illicit drugs in the country.

A statement issued by the group’s President General, Goodluck Ibem said the efforts by the agency to eradicate the crystal narcotic hallucinogen popularly called ‘mkpuru mmiri’ from the region were commendable.

According to the statement, “For over 1 year now, we have not heard of cases of suicide influenced by the intake of hard drugs among our youths. This success story is one among the many successes recorded by the agency.

“The renewed fight against drug abuse has yielded positive results in the country and we urge the Federal House of Representatives and her Committee on Drugs and Narcotics, and its counterpart in the Senate to support the agency in eradicating drug abuse in our nation.

“The agency deserves to be equipped with adequate sophisticated weapons to be able to enforce law on the Drug Lords”.
