One of the abducted students of Federal Government College (FGC) in Birnin Yauri, Kebbi State, has given birth.
The teenager is among the 11 remaining schoolgirls still being held since last year.
Their fate is hanging in the balance despite the payment of ransoms by the families, as well as prisoner swaps.
The young mother recently delivered a boy in the abductors’ forest camp, according to PRNigeria.
“The bandits collected huge ransoms, married off some of the victims, yet refused to release the remaining abductees”, a source said.
Terrorists stormed the mixed boarding school on June 17, 2021 and killed a police officer.
They kidnapped more than 100 students, eight teachers, and stole a herd of cattle in the area.
Within days after the attack, the captives released some teachers and dozens of learners. The military confirmed one dead.
In October 2021, 27 students – two girls and 25 boys – and three teachers regained freedom.
In his speech, Governor Atiku Bagudu told the victims to accept the incident as a trial from God.
“Even Prophets of Allah, who are the best and most faithful people, have been tested and tried”, he said.
