The Kaduna State Government on Monday said it has received operational feedback from the Nigerian Airforce conducting aerial patrols over identified bandit enclaves across flash points in the state.

It said the Airforce has neutralised several bandits, destroyed various bandits camps while some hostages escaped.

Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State, who confirmed this in a statement on Monday, said in Kawara area of Igabi LGA, three bandits were neutralized, while some kidnapped victims were freed.

The statement further added that in Walawa, Giwa LGA, same strike by the Airforce was also carried out, while armed surveillance was carried out over Faka, Kangon Kadi, Damba, Ungwan Turai, Galbi, Gwagwada and environs in Chikun LGA, adding that bandits were sighted about 4km Northwest of Godani, and were neutralized. The same operation was carried out in Kuduru.

He said during operations in Igabi LGA, operations were conducted over Riyawa, Alhaji Isiaka, Rima, Riyawa, Rumana, Ungwan Liman, Mai Gishiri and the Kaduna Airport area, but noticed no traces of bandits, same as Birnin, Anaba, Malumi, Wusono and Kerawa.

“Also covered by the aerial patrols were the Kaduna-Abuja road and rail line, as well as Jere, Katari, Olam Farms, Gwagwada, Sarkin Pawa, Abulo, Mangoro, Chikwale and environs. Normal human and vehicular activities were observed, with no threats encountered,” he said.

He said normal activities were observed during aerial patrols over Kajuru, Kankomi, Kutura, Kuzo, Ungwan Magami and Ruga areas, adding that the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road and adjoining areas were similarly covered: Buruku, Labi, Udawa, Manini and Polewire up to Kajuru, Jaka da Rabi and Maguzawa.

He said the state governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai received the reports with excitement and urged the security operatives to keep the flag flying.
