The National Population Commission, NPC says it has acquired data that will be useful for the 2023 census and national development.

The Federal Commissioner, representing Ekiti State at the NPC, Mr. Ayodeji Ajayi said this in Ado-Ekiti at the opening of a two-day state-level workshop on the compendium of localities.

Ajayi pointed out that the Enumeration Area Demarcation exercise earlier conducted had provided the commission with the relevant information which would make the census easier.

The NPC National Commissioner, however, assured that the commission was committed to delivering accurate, reliable and acceptable census which would be relevant to sustainable national development.

In his welcome address, the Ekiti State Director, National Populations Commission, Ayomola Adeyanju said the compendium of localities was an important tool for the conduct of reliable population and housing census.

Mr. Adeyanju noted that the workshop was organised for the participating stakeholders to make corrections if there are any mistakes in the compendium of each locality in the state.

In their goodwill messages, representatives of ALGON in the state and Chairman of the Ekiti West local government, Mr. Sesan Okere, INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Adeniran Tella, represented by Mr. Temitope Akanmu and the state Director, NOA, Mrs Olawumi Famuyiwa described NPC as a partner agency which should be supported to achieve success.
