Manchester United are exploring the prospect of re-signing forward Memphis Depay from Barcelona.
According to Sport, Man United manager, Erik ten Hag sees Depay, a former Red Devils star, as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, after his contract was terminated on Tuesday evening.
Man United will back Ten Hag with a move for Depay as long as Barcelona grant the Netherlands international a free transfer in January.
Barcelona would be prepared to release Depay, with his deal set to expire in June, 2023.
Depay will have to make a decision after the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The 28-year-old came close to joining Juventus last summer, but his €7m-a-year demands proved too rich for the Serie A giants.
