Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), on Tuesday, slammed Bello Matawalle, saying the Zamfara State Governor does not deserve to be mentioned as Governor in the history of the State.

The group said this while accusing the Governor of allegedly allowing bandits and kidnappers operate freely in the State.

HURIWA’s National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, in a statement, said the security situation in Zamfara had so worsened under Governor Matawalle.

The group said Matawalle had failed the people as the chief security officer of the State and “does not deserve to be remembered on the positive page of history.”

DAILY POST reported on Monday that the criminals released five children of Abubakar Bello Furfuri, a former Accountant General of the State.

The children were said to have spent five months and one day in captivity.

The criminal bandits then went on to kidnap Muhammad Galadima, the district head of Kwangami village and six others in the Zurmi Local Government Area of the State.

These are just a few of such incidents, including killings and maiming of innocent citizens being reported in the State.

And HURIWA wondered why the State Government would want to go into peace deals and introduce amnesty programmes for killers and bloodsucking bandits instead of crushing them.

“Matawalle’s sins are many and crimson…” HURIWA said.

“Matawalle also granted so-called amnesty deal to Auwal Daudawa, who was accused of spearheading the abduction of over 300 schoolboys in Kankara, Katsina State,” the group added.

The rights group said that the Governor had continued to grandstand and commune with the bandits under the guise of extending an olive branch.
