The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), zone A in Zamfara State has advised its members to ensure professionalism in covering security-related issues during the 2023 general elections.

The Union expressed its commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of its members in the Zone.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the zonal secretary of the union, Bello Abdulrazak Kaura.

At a meeting presided over by the vice president of the zone, Muhammad Tukur Umar, the union acknowledged the efforts of security operatives to end banditry and other sundry crimes in the Northwest and urged them to redouble their efforts to restore normalcy in the region.

“Specifically, we commend the tactical operation of the Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Police Command, CP Yusuf Kolo for the strategy he is applying to crush criminals and their accomplices”, the statement noted.

“We equally applaud the efforts of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air force, Department of State Services (DSS) and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) as well as other security agencies for their relentless efforts to make the northwest a safe place”

“However, we charge them to intensify operations by ensuring collaboration and synergy in the fight against criminals. We appeal to them on the need to improve intelligence gathering through renewed community engagement for better results”
