Bandits on Sunday released two victims kidnapped during last Tuesday night’s attack on the Kubwa Extension II Relocation Estate, along the Arab Road area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The victims, a Christian minister identified simply as Pastor, and a lady, Adenike, who recently completed the National Youth Service Corps scheme in November, were released six days after they were abducted alongside five others.
The five victims reportedly still in the kidnappers’ den were two male children, a woman, and two male adults.
PUNCH Metro had earlier reported that the bandits requested a sum of N100m as ransom for Adenike.
Confirming the development on Monday, the Chairman of the estate, Suleiman Seidu, said, “Yes, Pastor and the young lady, Adenike, have been released. They were released yesterday (Sunday).”
The Vice-Chairman of the estate, Frank Boboi, said, “We are happy that Adenike has been released. She was released on Sunday and has since returned to her family.
“Yes, a ransom was paid, but I can’t disclose the sum, as it is confidential. But we thank God, the community and everyone for their support.”
A family source also confirmed the development.
“A ransom was paid for her freedom. We hope that others will be released soon as well,” the source added.
The FCT police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, could not confirm the development as she was in a conference in Ibadan, Oyo State.
However, the deputy police spokesperson for the command, Omotayo Oduniyi, promised to find out and get back to our reporter.
She had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report.
