Former Arsenal player, Marc Overmars was hospital on Thursday after suffering a ‘mild stroke’.

A statement from his current team, Royal Antwerp, wished the former Netherlands international a speedy recovery.

The statement read in part: “Marc Overmars, director of football affairs at RAFC, became unwell last night and was admitted to hospital with a mild stroke. RAFC wishes Marc a speedy recovery!”

Overmars, 49, won the English Premier League and FA Cup during his time at Arsenal.

Since retiring in 2009, Overmars has worked at Ajax and Royal Antwerp as the director of football.
