The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has threatened to petition foreign Missions to secure visa ban on Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma over an alleged plot to frame its spokesman, Ikenga Ugochinyere.
CUPP in a statement by its Chairman, Steering Committee, High Chief Peter Ameh, on Friday, disclosed that they are in possession of an audio recording of how Imo governor and his aide, Chinasa Nwaneri, threatened to frame Ikenga Ugochinyere of arson, murder, rape and then, illegally detain him.
But the governor through his Chief Press Secretary, Oguwike Nwachukwu, described the allegation as unfounded, saying that the characters must have woken up from deep slumber with its attendant hallucination.
Ameh said the Imo governor’s anger came on the heels of the exposure by the opposition coalition that he’s among those plotting to rig and undermine 2023 general election in Imo and 14 other states.
Ameh, therefore, called on President Muhammadu Buhari, and security agencies to stop Uzodinma’s plan, saying that the coalition would petition foreign missions to secure Visa ban on Uzodinma and his cohorts.
The statement reads in part, “Since we uncovered plot by some politicians to stop INEC use of Bimodal Voter Accreditation system and tampering of voter register, Imo government has been threatening to harm our spokesman, Ugochinyere and PDP Ideato North South House of Representative candidate.
“Their plot to kill Ugochinyere will be the greatest undoing as they have met a man that would never stop until they are exposed. In the audio recording I our possession, you can hear the Governor’s aide proudly and shamelessly saying that he would arrest and harm Ugochinyere if he enters Imo State. As our spokesman enters Imo today, they should stay clear off his path. Anything done otherwise won’t be tolerated by the opposition.”
