The sacking of the senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for Imo west senatorial district, Jones Onyereri by the supreme court on Friday had come to many as a supreme in the state.
This is as the state leadership of the PDP said that though it was aware of the supreme court judgement but it had yet to get its certified true copy.
Many who spoke to newsmen when they visited the PDP state secretariat said that they were disappointed with the supreme court judgement.
One of them said ” this is very unfortunate. PDP has campaigned in all the wards in Imo west. We are ahead of all the other candidates before this unfortunate judgment. The annoyance is that this is a judgment of court of finality.”
Another person said ” this is very saddening. Our candidate is the choice of the people. This is not good for our democracy. The people are angry.”
When contacted, the spokesperson for the PDP in the state, Collins Opuruozor, said that the though the party is aware of the judgment but it had yet to get a certified through copy of the judgment.
He said that the party will make a comment when it gets a certified through copy of the judgment.
