Manchester United legend Gary Neville has changed his opinion about Aaron Ramsdale of Arsenal.

The Arsenal goalkeeper seems to have proven one of his biggest doubters wrong as Neville admitted that he was wrong about the Englishman.

Arsenal allowed now-Argentina first choice goalkeeper Emi Martinez leave the club and bought Ramsdale following Mikel Arteta’s appointment.

Neville now sees Ramsdale as the most composed goalkeeper following the Englishman’s performance against Tottenham on Sunday.

While many pundits questioned the move, the England international has done well this season and helped the Gunners stay on top of the Premier League table.

Speaking on The Gary Neville Podcast, Neville said, “I’ll be really honest with you, when I looked at Ramsdale, the price tag, getting rid of Martinez, I wasn’t sure. He’s not my style of goalkeeper, I’ll be really honest with you.

“He wants to get too involved. I like a big goalkeeper, 6’3, 6’4, really dominant, scares opposition forwards.

“But he is more of a modern goalkeeper that is in fashion. And I have to say today, that’s the most composed I’ve seen him. I don’t think he put a foot wrong today. And he brought real authority to his team.”

The England third-choice goalkeeper began his senior club career with Sheffield United and joined Bournemouth in 2017.

He spent some loan spells at Chesterfield and AFC Wimbledon before joining Sheffield United in a transfer worth an initial £18 million.

In 2021, Ramsdale signed for Arsenal in a club record transfer worth up to £30 million, becoming their most expensive goalkeeper.
