The Peoples Democratic Party has said it was constrained to dissolve the Ekiti State Executive of the party in order to restore sanity and return the party to winning ways.

Deputy National Chairman (North), Illiya Damagun, said this during the inauguration of the caretaker committee for the state, in Abuja, on Wednesday.

He explained that Ekiti State had always been a PDP-controlled state but that the dissolved state executive had through its mishandling of party affairs, superintended over a season of unending crisis.

Damagun said, “ I believe you were selected from where ever you were selected because you have distinguished yourselves and you have the capability to take the party from where it is. I believe if you do the right thing we have one united party.

“Our last outing in Ekiti State was the worst in our history. We are inaugurating a new Caretaker Committee today and I believe all interests are represented.

“Your first assignment is to deliver our Presidential candidate, Senate and House of Reps and House of Assembly candidates.”

He enjoined members of the party to take immediate steps to unite the party for the task ahead.

Chairman of the the newly inaugurated 14 member caretaker committee, Arch. Sadeque Obanoye, who spoke on behalf of other members promised not to let the party down.

He said, “We must deliver our state for the PDP in the forth coming elections. We believe we have a huge task ahead of us.

“We will do all that is needful to ensure that all our people are united. Be rest assured that you have sent us on an errand and we will deliver.”

National Secretary Sen. Sam Anyanwu in his remarks said, “Your first assignment is to deliver the state for our party in the forthcoming general elections.”
