Commercial drivers in Ile Ife, Osun State are protesting over the scarcity of new Naira notes in the country.

The drivers who have presently blocked major roads in the city said that it is unfair that passengers pay them old notes which they cannot use for anything in the city. 

One of the aggrieved drivers who spoke to our correspondent said that fuel stations are rejecting the old notes while passengers are still paying them with it.

He further stated  the only way to sort things out was through the protest so that the government can come to their aide.

Scarcity of the redesigned Naira note has caused untold hardship across the country. 

The drivers have presently blocked a part of Mayfair Roundabout, harassing commercial motorcycle riders, who did not join the protest.

They also blocked the road leading to the main gate of Oja Tun Tun market in  Ile Ife.
