Dr. Abdullahi Umar Gandjue, Governor of Kano State, has directed the chairman of the State Consumer Protection Council, Dr. Baffa Babba Dan Agundi, to close Well Care Supermarket, which sells food and drugs.

Following the closure of the supermarket, the chairman stated that legal action would be taken against Well Care supermarket.

The order of closure followed Well Care supermarket’s refusal to accept old Naira notes from customers, despite the Kano State Government’s instruction to continue accepting old notes.

He cautioned other Kano marketers that the state government has not prohibited the use of old Naira notes as legal tender. As a result, any shop found not receiving the old notes will be dealt with harshly.

According to reports, Well Care Alliance Limited has written to Governor Ganduje requesting an immediate intervention to reopen the supermarket.
