Prominent personalities and outstanding institution in Obowo were honored by Arise Africa network Organization during the Obowo Decides Live Debate.
The event which was held on Sunday 29th January, 2023 at Obiri Obowo Otoko Hall in Obowo L. G. A Imo State is powered by Gcfn Consult, Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN) and International Human Rights Commission
The prominent Obowo personalities who received honours from Arise Africa network organization includes Chief Emmanuel Okewulonu, a business mogul and the current Senatorial Candidate of People’s Democratic Party Okigwe Zone Senatorial Zone.
He was awarded alongside with Hon Uzoma Egbukichi and Amb Vitus Echendu who is a Human Rights Activist.
Others are Prince Chima Anyanwu, Chief Emeka Williams, Chief Festus Mbachu, Onugotu Obowo Foundation, Apostle Eugene, Rev Emmanuel Ozuruonye and Lucky Osuji.
Dcn Chuka Solomon Obaego, the National Cordinator of New Nigeria Integrity Movement and a highly successful business mogul in the Real Estate sector was also presented with Excellence in Leadership Award
Speaking with the Founder of Arise Africa Network Mr. Ikechukwu Anyanwu who is also Publisher Arise Africa magazine, he described the honors as a small token of appreciation for the immense contributions made by the awardees to the state and constituency.
He stated that the major objective of the public debate is for the people to hear from all the candidates seeking for election so as to assess and make their judgement themselves.
“Obowo is a place of ‘first’s, the first Lawyer in Okigwe zone (including Isuikwuator and Isuochi as it is now) the first medical Doctor in Okigwe zone and the first entity or clan to organize political debates in the old Eastern Nigeria”
“When Papa Obowo (TOS Ebere) organized it for Obowians who were contesting election in 1978, the pioneer outing helped Mbakwe during the actual elections in 1979” he said
Obowo State Constituency Imo State House of Assembly Candidates who were present includes Hon Nzenwa Emmanuel Uche (AA), Hon Chika Okafor (PDP), Hon Ebere Ugo of the All-Progressive Grand Alliance, Hon Matthew Maduforo IBB (Accord) and Hon Collins Esiro (SDP)
The Candidate of the All-Progressive Congress, Rt Hon Barr Kennedy Ibeh, with member representing Obowo IMHA, Princess Nkechi Anyanwu-Mbachu of Labour Party and Hon Nnayerugo Kingsley Iroanya (YPP) were unavoidably absent according to the Press Release by their media handlers.
