South African rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes was shot dead on Florida Road Friday night, police sources in Durban have confirmed.

Another person believed to be AKA’s bodyguard was also wounded, while an unidentified person, who is understood to be a close friend of AKA, was also shot dead in the drive-by shooting, according to an IOL report.

Police in the province had yet to officially comment on the incident, but according to IOL, AKA was standing outside the Wish Restaurant when he was gunned down in a drive-by shooting.

Just 2 years ago, Nelli Tembe, the fiancée of the deceased South African hip hop artist, AKA, died after falling from the 10th floor of a hotel. The incident occurred on Sunday, April 11, 2021, at the Pepperclub Hotel in Central Cape Town.

Last year, one of South Africa’s most famous rappers, Riky Rick, left his legion of fans grieving after he took his own life at the age of 34.

South Africa is the most deadliest country in Africa, Nigerians should be grateful. On 18 October 2007, popular reggae artist Lucky Dube was killed same way in Rosettenville, a suburb in southern Johannesburg, shortly after dropping two of his seven children off at their uncle’s house.

Going out and coming back home safely is underrated.
