A group, under the auspices of Youth Alliance for Tinubu (YAT) has described the Presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) as bad losers, going by their recent actions.
The group while reacting to a recent protest staged by the PDP over the outcome of the presidential election, said the candidate who emerged victorious worked hard to earn the votes of the people, not by intimidation and protest.
At a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, the National Coordinator of the group, Bello Bala Shagari noted that no political party mobilized people in the nooks and crannies of Nigeria like the APC did.
He claimed that no candidate among those who ran for president invested himself in the politics of Nigeria like Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Recall that since the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President-elect, there has been a general outcry over the election results.
While Tinubu has been basking in the euphoria of his electoral victory, the duo of Atiku and Obi have gone to court challenging the outcome of the election.
As if mocking the opposing parties, Shagari said, “this is a man who in his history, has never lost an election. So why should we be surprised if he wins the presidency against an obviously divided opposition?”
Reacting to the cashless policy and its impact on the election, the group said, it disagreed with the monetary policies because it restricted the circulation of cash but that it is widely accepted by observers that the decision helped to curb vote buying during the elections.
“It was an obvious mischief done to put the ruling party in a disadvantaged position by reducing its popularity among voters, but surprisingly it failed woefully in that respect,” Shagari stated.
