The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Imo State has raised alarm over the alleged attempt to assassinate its Leader, the former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Gerald Irona.

The opposition party alleged that the first attempt at Iroha’s life was in police custody, the day he was abducted and another one was at the magistrate court during an alleged kangaroo arraignment.

PDP stated this in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary in Imo State, Collins Opurozor made available to DAILY POST in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.

The release reads,” In the police custody, a very queer-looking person walked into the cell in the middle of the night and began to pressurize Rt. Hon. Irona to follow him outside to urinate. But our Leader declined.

“The aim was to lead him outside and murder him on the false pretext that he wanted to escape from detention.

“During the arraignment at the magistrate court 7 in Owerri, another agent of the decadent APC regime in Imo State walked very close to the Rt. Hon. Irona began to advise him to run away from the court.

“He also told Irona to encourage his supporters and PDP members in the court premises to initiate a riot. The aim of this also was to create chaos, which would have led to the prompt assassination of Irona on the claim that he was trying to flee the court”
