The dawn-to-dusk curfew that was enforced in Kano state due to unrest following the expected outcomes of the gubernatorial and state assembly elections has been suspended.

Muhammad Garba, the state’s commissioner for information and internal affairs, who made the declaration, urged residents of the state, employees of the government, and commercial banks to carry on with their regular duties.

He also expressed his gratitude to the state’s residents for their cooperation during the curfew.

The statement read:-
“The decision to lift the curfew was made after a careful review of the situation and the relative calm throughout the state.

We urge the people to go about their legitimate business without fear of molestation or harassment.

“We appreciate the cooperation of the people during the period of the curfew.

We urge them to continue to maintain peace and order.”
