The Labour Party, LP, National Chairman, Julius Abure has said that the party will refund the N25 million nomination fee paid by late Imo State governorship aspirant, Humphrey Anumudu.

Abure, who stated this while speaking with journalists in Abuja on Tuesday after meeting with members of the National Assembly-Elect of the party, noted that the party decided to return the nomination fee to the deceased’s family to show empathy and compassion.

Anumudu had bought the party’s form to contest the primary ahead of the State governorship election in November but died last week.

Abure said, “Recall that one of our aspirants in Imo State lost his life. I’m pleased to announce to the public and members of the Labour Party family and his immediate family that the party will refund the nomination fee of N25 million that he spent.

“We need to do this to support the family and show leadership of compassion, of empathy that the Labour Party stands for.”
