Gbenga Olawepo-Kashim, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has congratulated Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his emergence as Nigeria’s President-elect after the election of Saturday, February 25.

The former People’s Trust 2019 presidential candidate, however, tasked him with national reconciliation and healing as he takes over from President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking via a statement by his media office in Abuja, he warned that reconciliation and healing must not be overlooked as they are needed to move the country forward.

Olawepo-Hashim urged Tinubu to ensure his government is not for victors alone but one of inclusivity to propel national unity.

He maintained that “the Nigerian electorates who have borne so much hardship and provocations during the election are the real heroes of the election.”

“The message from them is clear: they want real change.

“They represent the very best of our democracy and an immediate future that no force can stop.”

Olawepo-Hashim urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to work harder to make the coming gubernatorial and state House of Assembly elections better, saying its conduct almost marred the election.

He added that Nigeria’s democracy must advance beyond the perennial problem of voter intimidation, especially those considered non-indigenes.

He also congratulated other contestants, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the Labour Party’s Peter Obi, commending them for their conduct despite their reservations about the conduct of the election.
