Everton star, Alex Iwobi has claimed the poor playing surface of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja affected the Super Eagles’ performance in their defeat to the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau.

The Super Eagles suffered a shocking 1-0 loss to Baciro Cande’s side, who are among the lowest-ranked countries in the world.

Iwobi and his teammates struggled to express themselves on the pitch as they did in previous outings.

Iwobi corroborated the gaffer and stated that it will be difficult to beat the Super Eagles if they play on a quality surface.

“If we had that in Nigeria, I feel like it would be difficult to beat us. I am confident enough to say that not many teams can beat us,” Iwobi said in an interview with The Beautiful Game Podcast.

“Having a good pitch, if we have that, I feel like we’d be unstoppable. Just a pitch with grass, no crops”.
