Arsenal legend, Paul Merson, has urged the leadership of Chelsea under co-owner Todd Boehly to appoint sacked Leicester City manager, Brendan Rodgers as Graham Potter’s successor at Stamford Bridge.

Both Potter and Rodgers were sacked on Sunday by Chelsea and Leicester, respectively, after a disappointing weekend.

However, Merson wants Boehly to appoint Rodgers, a former Chelsea coach, insisting that the Irishman ticks every box.

“I would like to see Brendan Rodgers in at Chelsea… I am a big Brendan Rodgers fan. Unfortunately, things have gone horribly wrong at Leicester,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“Rodgers ticks every box; he plays on the front foot, he started his coaching career at Chelsea and knows the club. Chelsea fans will question why they should turn to a manager who has just been sacked by Leicester.”
