A coalition of Civil Societies, under the umbrella of The Osun Masterminds, has charged Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to be cautious in his romance with a former governor of the state and incumbent Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola.
It also urged the governor to desist from taking up some of the policies embarked on by Aregbesola’s administration, which the group said, is capable of running the state into insolvency.
The Coalition, in its state of the state address for April signed by its Executive Director, Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, stated that Adeleke “might be getting tempted to go in the path of profligacy that characterised many policies of the Aregbesola administration.” They warned him against being used in dragging Osun State backward.
A part of the address entitled, “Aregbesola’s Legacies and the Booby Traps for Adeleke,” obtained in Osogbo yesterday, described the airport project and Opon-Imo tablet of knowledge project of the Aregbesola’s government as white elephant that the present administration must exercise restraints in continuing with.
Meanwhile, Adeleke and the coalition, yesterday, expressed different views over security situations in the state.
While the civil societies, argued that crime was on the increase in the state and the people were beginning to live in palpable fear, the governor said security agencies had been proactive in taming insecurity in the state.
The coalition’s executive director said there had been surge in kidnappings, killings, daylight robberies, among other criminal acts, in nooks and crannies of the state.
However, speaking on behalf of the governor, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Teslim Igbalaye, in a statement, commended security agencies for their proactive actions to tame recent wave of insecurity in the state even as he lauded the police for the arrest and prosecution of suspects in recent crimes.
He promised that the state government would continue to secure life and property, stressing that criminals have no abode in Osun State.
“Our government has zero tolerance for criminals and their inhuman activities. We will drive them out of Osun and secure our people in their daily activities. I convey the condolences of His Excellency to all victims of these barbaric attacks. Your government will track down all criminals and bring them to justice,” Igbalaye affirmed.
