Former Senator, Athan Achonu, who represented Imo North Senatorial Zone in the Senate, has been elected the governorship candidate of the Labour party in Imo State.

Alex Otti, the Abia State Governor Elect, who was Chairman of the Primary Election Panel, declared Achonu, popularly called ‘One Hand General’, as winner of the primary having scored the highest number of votes.

Achonu, according to Otti, polled 134 votes, to defeat his closet challenger, Jack Ogunewe, a retired general of the Nigerian Army.
