An unemployed man, Vitalis Okwudiri, was on Tuesday docked in a Grade 1 Area Court, Karu, Abuja, for allegedly defrauding a client of N100,000.

The police charged Okwudiri, 56, with criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The Prosecution Counsel, Ade Adeyanju, told the court that the defendant, with the intention to buy a Nissan Altima car valued at N900,000 from the complainant, swindled him.

Adeyanju said that the defendant claimed the car now belonged to him and, in the process, induced and deceived the complainant and collected the sum of N100,000 as an advance deposit.

The prosecutor said when the complainant discovered dishonesty from the defendant, he asked for a refund of his money which he confessed to have converted to his personal use.
