A Muslim women association, Sisters of Jannah, have lamented the high rate of divorce among Muslim couples in the Northern part of the country.

The association made the observation at its Ramadan lecture on Wednesday. Malama Khadija Ahmed, the guest lecturer, opined that most parents usually ignore the instructions of the Holy Quran when giving their children out in marriage, leading to divorce among many couples.

She advised couples against selfishness, egocentricity, autocracy, and recalcitrance. She advocated tolerance, forgiveness, and resolving differences with reason, fairness and affection in order to ensure success in marriage.

Hajiya Maryam Garba Bagel, the patron of the association, advised couples not to be self centered but to be fair and just in order to build a good marital home.
