Manchester United great Peter Schmeichel has slammed Antony after the Red Devils drew 2-2 with Sevilla in the quarter-final of the Europa League on Thursday.

The Red Devils appeared to be cruising to victory at Old Trafford after Marcel Sabitzer netted two vital goals in the first-leg fixture.

However, Tyrell Malacia and Harry Maguire put the ball into their own net in the final stages of the clash to make the second leg in Spain next week a difficult battle.

The 23-year-old Antony produced a sub-par performance against Sevilla and created zero chances, and registered just one shot on target in the 81 minutes he lasted on the pitch.

Manchester United will now travel to Sevilla hoping for a better outing in Spain but without the likes of Bruno Fernandes(suspended), Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, who picked up injuries last night.

“It is frustrating to see someone of his[Antony] talent not making more of it,” Schmeichel told BBC.

He further stated that “Manchester United are not a top European team yet” with the way they approach games.

On what he thinks about Erik Ten Hag’s management, the United legend said,”That is my worry, the lack of ability to manage the game. We have seen this a couple of times this season.”
