The National Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, has again come under criticism over recent reports of purported endorsement by various sections of his party.
This time, a political pressure group in Ikeduru LGA, known as, Ihedioha Reelection Movement, Ikeduru chapter has joined their voice, in expression over the counter reactions and disclaimers that have greeted reports of his endorsement.
In a message by Chief Christian Akujuobi, Hon. Nicolas Onyeagwala, Coordinator and Publicity Secretary respectively, the Movement bemoaned what it described as, “desperation for cheap clout”.
It said, we feel embarrassed over the manner the reports of endorsement of Senator Samuel Anyanwu have been disclaimed by all the groups and individuals reported to have done so and we no longer want to keep quiet
“These purported endorsements are not what we need at this time in our party. We are preparing for a critical and important election and someone is gallivanting all over the place in search of cheap clout to soothe his ego. This is not good. We feel ashamed.
“We advise our brother to take it easy and read the signs. He should listen to the streets, mood and emotions of the people of the state and realize that these fake endorsements will not lead him anywhere. The people have already made up their minds to return Ihedioha to office.
“As our big brother, our party in Ikeduru is enmeshed in crisis, which he is aware of. We expect him to first of all, put his house in order and reconcile all aggrieved members before going to Mbaise and Orlu to seek relevance.
What we should be discussing at this time is how to mobilize the electorate to vote for our party and not forum shopping for selfish gains.
The group, advised the leadership of the party to take steps to instill discipline in the party as the elections draw closer.
