Cameroonian musician Leonard Fonyuy Nsobunrika popularly known as Mr. Leo is scheduled for a solo performance tour by Bright Light Projects (BLP) called “Mega Cultural Charity Tour” in the United States from June 15 – August 15, 2023

According to Franco Bonghan, the BLP Chief Executive Officer, the tour will connect the USA diaspora grassland community from the region, creating a healing platform from the trauma of scars of war due to the ongoing Anglophone crisis that has been looming around since 2016 in the north west and south west regions of Cameroon.

Part of the proceeds from this tour will go to support BLP’s ;s ongoing efforts in providing support to the more than 4000 lives that have been lost in the crisis, with about more than 350 villages partially or severely burnt down, about a one million persons who are internally displaced or refugees as result of the crisis.

The series of concerts are tagged ‘A Tour Beyond Music’, “Music for a Cause’ and will serve as a call for peace, tolerance and healing in the crisis torn regions. “As the crisis in the Anglophone regions continued for the fifth year, over 712,000 people are internally displaced in the regions and in the Littoral, West, and Central regions as of August 2021, and about 86000 refugees, mostly women and children, are found in Nigeria.”

“About 4000 civilians have been killed with over 350 villages raided down partially and severely burnt down”, he said.

Franco also said that the choice of Mr. Leo for the concert goes deeper beyond music, as his performance will provide healing and reconciliation platform for the Tikari grasslands diaspora USA community

“Kumbo is a displaced community suffering from trauma due to this crisis for over five years now. This tour will provide some moral uplifting from the sufferings of the diasporan Anglophones who have lost multiple family members and properties”

“It should be noted the paramount ruler of the Kumbo, Bui Division where Mr. Leo hails from is also an internally displaced person living in the capital city of Yaoundé due to the crisis”, Franco Bonghan said.

Mr. Leo who has become a recognized cultural icon for the Tikari Grasslands of Cameroon, will through his music share the same experience during the tour in the United States of America.

Franco further revealed that the concerts which will be taking place in Houston, Charlotte, Minneapolis, Atlanta and Maryland will be a ‘MR. LEO ONLY’ affair.

“Mr. Leo will provide a Cultural and unique perspective as he plans to invoke, inspire and provide peace, dialogue and understanding during this Tour to the grasslands diaspora community in the United States of America.”

“All Five concerts will be strictly on cultural and no other performances are scheduled for the five city Mega Cultural Charity Tour”
