Suspected bandits on Monday launched an attack on Gandu, a community located near the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) in Nasarawa State, kidnapping several residents and leaving others injured.

Source within the community, who spoke to DAILY POST on Tuesday morning, confirmed the incident, disclosing that the bandits struck at around 7:00 pm on Monday.

The attackers injured a number of individuals, who have since been transported to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment.

The latest incident is coming barely three weeks after a previous attack claimed the life of one person in the same community.

The state government, in response to the earlier incident, had pledged to reinforce security measures in and around the campuses of the university.

DAILY POST reports that the state government had said it will construct security outposts and provide vehicles for security personnel to patrol the area.

The government also pledged to introduce checkpoints within and around the institution.
