Following the escape of a serial rapist from police custody in Orji, Owerri, the Imo State Police Commissioner Aboki Danjuma has ordered the immediate redeployment of the DPO in charge of the station. 

The Orji Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Udom Godwin, will be on standby at the State Command Headquarters after being accused of conspiracy, aiding and abetting in the escape of Ihee Andrew who is detained for rape charges. 

Ihee Andrew, 30 was arrested for allegedly rapping a 20 year old lady in Orji and the CP is assuring that everyone arrested in line with the case will face the full wrath of the law.

He has mandated the Deputy Commissioner of Police who is in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (DCSCIID) to carry out a comprehensive investigation on the matter. 

He also said that if found guilty, the DPO and other officers involved in the case, will be sanctioned appropriately. 

CSP Sabo Baba has been deployed to replace  DPO Udom Godwin as DPO in Orji police station. 

Imo State Police Command has been on th news recently, following the killing of two officers by unknown gun men. They are taking a stand of zero tolerance to rape,, sexual abuse and other gender related crimes.
