A Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Ireti Kingibe, has said there is a big disconnect between the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, and the elected officials.
Speaking on Channels Television on Sunday, the lawmaker, who was elected on the platform of the Labour Party, LP, said “I have WhatsApp messages, I have written him one or two letters and I don’t get any response.”
Speaking on the root cause of the worsening state of insecurity in the nation’s capital, Senator Ireti said, “I would say without exaggerating that maybe a quarter of the Police Force are guarding VIP, which is not their primary function.
“A little bit earlier I tried to draw their attention (security operatives) and I was told that it was exaggerated.”
The FCT is presently being ravaged by kidnappers, who take their victims into different forests around Abuja, Kaduna, Niger and other surrounding States.
The lawmaker had revealed plans by the Senate to summon Wike.
