Corps Members deployed to Imo State have been implored to handle their duties with diligence as they commence their Primary Assignment within the 27 Local Government Areas of the State.

The State Coordinator, Mrs Rachel Idaewor while addressing the Corps at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Batch A Stream l Orientation course at Eziama Obaire Camp, told them that such attribute would spur them towards contributing immensely to the development of their host communities, State and Nation in general.

“As Graduate Youths, you should make conscious efforts to bring to bear the experiences of the course, having been adequately equipped with the basic – requisites necessary for a successful Service Year.

Mrs Idaewor further stated that National Development can only be achieved by the Corps Members embarking on Community Development Service (CDS) projects in their host communities where they are expected to identify the felt needs of the people, proffer solutions that would impact positively and generally enhance the living standard of the Host Communities.

To add value to themselves, the Coordinator encouraged the Corps Members to embrace lifelong skills under the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurial Development (SAED) programme which is designed to equip them for self-employment and wealth creation, noting that “White collar” jobs are grossly insufficient.

“I, hereby, urge you all to sustain the enthusiasm demonstrated during the In-camp training by building on the skills acquired, availing yourselves of the opportunities for Post-Camp SAED training,” says the Coordinator.

However, she encouraged them to look out for each other to ensure their safety and always be security-conscious.

he further cautioned them against embarking on unauthorized journeys, night travels, visits to dangerous places and accepting car rides from strangers due to its dire consequences.

In her closing remarks, the State Coordinator admonished the Corps Members to be law-abiding at all times and adhere to the sections and provisions of the NYSC Acts/ Bye Laws for a rewarding service year.

She used the opportunity to commend the Course Participants and Collaborating Agencies for their tireless efforts towards the success of the orientation course.
