An Abakaliki Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, remanded two men, Anthony Odeh and Amadi Chibuike in a correctional centre for allegedly killing a police corporal.
Odeh, 40 and Chibuike, 34, are facing a two-count charge of murder and conspiracy.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Bassey Okon informed the court that the defendants committed the offences on February 10 at Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi.
Okon said Odey conspired with Chibuike and others now at large to kill a serving police corporal, Emeka Kelvin whose force number is: F/No 518032.
The prosecutor said the offences were punishable under section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code cap.33, vol. 1 laws of Ebonyi State, Nigeria.
The plea of the defendants was not taken.
Counsel to the defendants, Mr C. O Okpere prayed the court to grant them bail.
The prosecutor opposed the bail application and urged the court to remand the defendants in a correctional centre.
Magistrate Ojemba Isu-Oko rejected the bail application and remanded the defendants in a correctional centre.
He said the case file and all exhibits should be forwarded to the Department of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
He adjourned the matter until April 5.
